Hi Steve,
Not sure what version of pt your using but I use sound shifter for my go to 
Pitch & time stretching.
You need to use a surface to manipulate the parameters at least in my pt 
version and have the presets saved for it but it is virtually undetectable at 
work and thats what you want!
May be Mike Lockett can chime in about waves and pt 12 parameters and being 
able to change them with out a surface?
