Hi.

Sweetwater has all of your answers...

Here's the short version:

Yes, they require external power and most connect via USB. Your late
2011 mac book pro should have two USB 2.0 ports, ethernet, a firewire
800 port and an Intel Thunderbolt port and remember that you can use
many different adapters with the thunderbolt port as well as daisy
chaining devices so connection wise, you really have nothing to worry
about...

As far as control surfaces with motorized faders that work with pt,
you have the Baranger x touch series, the older baranger BCF2000,
mackie control universal pro, the avid artist mix, avid S3, ssl
nucleas, and digital mixers with built in control surface layers like
the tascam dm2400 and the Baranger X32 producer etc.

I hope that helps.

Cameron.

Hi, What good control surfaces exist that still have moving controls and
work with Pro Tools 12 and how would they connect to my mac book pro
late model 2011 and do they require external power? Nick Gawronski

Hi. I'm selling a resident audio t2 thunderbolt interface with five
meter thunderbolt cable... Shoot me an e mail if interested.

I would love to see a control surface with motorized faders and a
built in thunderbolt interface with eight or sixteen mic preamps etc
but who knows if we'll see something like that as you can't even find
firewire options like that these days, (Not that there were that many
in the first place!)

Thanks,

Cameron.

Hi, I was reading on line that Pro Tools 12 is the last version to
support the Digi 003 interface so I was wanting to buy something better
and hopefully with better connections. I was reading on line about
several thunder bolt interfaces are any of them accessible with Pro
Tools and for a good control surface do any ones exist that are combined
like the Digi 003 was or are they now two different parts now and are
there any trade in options for my Digi 003 with the moving sliders? I
would like somethink with combo jacks if possible and around 4 but
hopefully more I am on normal Pro Tools 12. Nick Gawronski
