I’m a huge fan of the scarlet. But if $499 isn’t in your budget, I wanted to hip you to the new Behringer U-Phoria that has just come out.
This is in direct competition with the Scarlet, and has the same preamps that are in the X32 line. I’ve heard these preamps and they sound great. If you go on youtube and search for Behringer X32 board mix, you’ll hear them in action with tons of videos. The u-phoria is only $199, so could meet your needs as well. I’m not sure what Behringer’s control panels are like, but the scarlet’s panel is not accessible under mac, but I think, according to chad, can be used under windows, and you can burn the settings to the machine permanently.
