Just wanted to cross post this to both lists as it can potentially affect users on both sides. I haven't heard any mention of this so far on either list unless I somehow missed it. For what it's worth, I'm posting this because it happened to me and I really didn't know what the problem could be.
I tried to launch Pro Tools today and was confronted by a dialog informing me that I needed to activate PT 12. well, I thought it was unusual but figured I'd press the Activate Now button. I had to log into my iLok account and did so without issue. I was told that I had an activation for it and to press the button to show where that license was. well, I knew very well where that license was but, for some reason, Pro Tools still wouldn't launch. I tried a few times, rebooted once or twice. I couldn't figure out what the problem could be. I tried launching another version of Pro Tools on my laptop and still it didn't work. I finally got a call back from Avid support. At a certain point, they asked me to synchronize the iLok. Now, let me say that, back in the days of the web-based iLok authorization, this was sort of normal practice: you plugged in your key, hit the Synchronize button and went on your way. Since the advent of the iLok License Manager, I haven't hit the Synchronize button once. Well, after the synchronization, Pro Tools launched without any issue. Go figure. Here's where Logic comes in. I'm not a Logic user but I've owned it since around 2008. I've had a peek at it once in a while but haven't looked at it for some time. Given that there was a recent update, I figured I should at least keep up with the upgrades and installed the latest version. After launching it at the end of the day yesterday, I noticed that there was some quick progress window mentioning the iLok and not to remove it. I paid no attention, let it do its thing and launched Logic and quit. This afternoon, when I tried to launch Pro Tools, I experienced the issue with the unsynchronized iLok. It really didn't occur to me that the two could possibly be related because why in the world would one necessarily conflict with the other? Well, for those with both Logic and Pro Tools installed, file it in the back of your mind. You might see a potential iLok issue at some point and, apparently, synchronize is your friend. Hope that helps somebody. Best, Slau -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Pro Tools Accessibility" group.
