Nice to hear that you want to get into the world of recording! :) Yes, the Mac is a great option, both considering processor power and accessibility. If you want to use Pro Tools and maybe record from an external microphone or from a guitar, my tip is to get a simple external audio interface to get you started, since this will give you the best flexibility and audio quality. My advice is to go with just a 2-channel interface. I’ve personally used the Edirol UA-25 sound card for many years and it has worked really well! Hope this helped! Good luck! Anything in apples current line up minus maybe the macbook and macbook air should be plenty sufficient to get going and keep you going for along time to come. Whatever system you get get as much ram as you can afford. Also go for an SSD if you can afford it but no need to get more than 128Gb or 256GB as you will want an external drive to record to. Advantage of a mac mini or iMac is you have the option to get both drives internally.
