Hi Steve, In the Edit window, go to the Clips list. It'll be one of 2 tables in the Edit window. If you bring up the Item Chooser with control-Option-i and type t a b l, it should come up with two matches. If there's only one match, the tracks list table, then you should click on the Show/Hide Clips List button and then search again. In the table, you can click on an item to select it. In this case, however, you would use either the Clips List pop-up menu to select unused clips or use Shift-Command-u. This would select unused clips (including whole files) and you can remove or delete them. Keep in mind, deleting a track doesn't delete the clips from the session. You can delete a track and the clips will still remain in the clips list. that's why you need to remove them from the session if you really don't want the clips associated with the session.
That's a strange thing to have tasks going on in the background if all you did was import the files. There may be something else going on there, I'm not sure.
