Hi JP, I’m copying the PT Access list because, if I’m going to go through the process of describing something in some detail, it’s more beneficial to others to keep the discussion on the list.
Dragging files from the clips list to the timeline requires a few things. First, only the track to be dragged to should be shown and it should be set to at least jumbo size. A macro program like Keyboard Maestro is necessary to move the mouse pointer to the center of the screen. In the Edit window, route the mouse pointer to the clip you want to drag to the timeline. Use the mouse-down command. Use the macro program like Keyboard Maestro to issue a “move mouse to center of window” command. Issue a mouse up command. This is a basic method for dragging clips to the timeline. You have to make sure no other windows are blocking the Edit window. Modified drags are when you use a modifier like, say, Command to specifically position the clip at the current insertion point. You can also use Spot mode so that, after issuing the mouse up command, you’d be prompted for the location where the clip should be moved. Hope that helps.
