Hi Steve, There will always be 3 variables (and, in the case of plug-in automation, 4 variables) that you need to check when writing automation: 1. the status of the Suspend Automation button in the Automation window, 2. the status of the automation enable buttons for the parameters you wish to automate (eg. volume, pan, etc.) which are also in the Automation window, and 3. the automation status of the individual tracks for which you wish to write automation. Writing plug-in automation requires a further enabling of specific plug-in parameters in the Auto Enable dialog which you can get to from the Plug-In window. Those parameters could essentially be thought of as the equivalent to the volume, pan, mute, etc. parameters found in the Automation window only specifically for plug-ins rather than for tracks.
