Hi Rami, first of all, make sure, that „link time and edit-selection“ and „link track and edit-selection“ are enabled. You can find these options in the options-menu. The up and down-keys only work when you select while playing. So, in order to use these shortcuts, you have to press play, followed by the shortcuts you mentioned for selecting your start and endpoint.
