To create a marker / memory location, simply press the enter key on the numpad and one will be created at your current playhead location. When you press enter you're placed in the name field and can type a name for it. To then move between them, you'd press numpad period, the marker number in question, and period. If you wanna make a timeline selection, then go to a marker, and if you hold shift and go to your next marker it'll make a selection between the 2. You can also view all your markers / memory locations with option 5. Hth.
