I want to make a Wi-Fi hotspot with WiMAX backhaul.
But current products don't seem to meet my needs:

1. One-piece outdoor box.
2. Runs Wi-Fi Dog (or other captive portal software)
3. Does not require Linux skills to maintain.
4. Draws 10-12 watts @12 volts
5. Uses WiMAX for backhaul (USB, PCI or ExpressBus)
6. Costs under $350

Mike Boyd's hooked a Motorola 150 WiMAX modem ($99) to a Meraki
Outdoor ($199). That's what I want. But I want a one-piece
(www.mini-box.com) so I could easily mount it on my bike (for live
event coverage). Maybe with a port for IP video.

While a wireless router like my Linksys WRT54G3G and CradlePoint
MBR1000 could do the job, I'm hoping there's a Captive Portal solution
that even a Windows dummy like me could master.

Is that wishful thinking? Should I just go with a Netbook?
