I also don't like how the ff fw functions are like th old tape players in how they sound, I'd rather have the sound of winamp or a cd player.

I'm wondering if those who use compact flash cards have to wait for this mechanism to engage. After all, a CF card doesn't have any mechanical parts, so I'm thinking forwarding and rewinding will happen instantly. For those that use a CF card with the PTR1, Is This true? The only thing is that when trying to rewind back and forth through recorded lectures, it takes an age. It starts off quite slowly, then it stops for a couple of seconds (or so it seems) and then starts again, a bit faster. It keeps stopping and then going on for a bit, then stops again. Drives me nuts! Sometimes,I have seen no logical pattern to it, it rewinds continuously without stopping. I would like it very much if I could work out how to make it rewind and fast forward without all these irritating stops and starts. I think this may have been covered a while back, but as usual I didn't take any notice because it wasn't affecting me at the time. I suspect that this phenomena is normal and has something to do with the phrase timings or something like that. If anyone has any suggestions, tips or just good old consolation, then do let me know. Many thanks for just being there. With Respects ...
