Having users (like Marco) to add a section from their own experience must surely be more time-efficient for everyone concerned: 1) Users get running faster, reduces learning curve 2) Users don't need to ask in, or wade through mail list for basics 3) Pengutronix staff don't need to answer basics 4) Load of producing docs is distributed 5) Wheel is not reinvented several times ! Howtos and workarounds shared. 6) Frustration of all is reduced ;-) 7) In best O-S tradition - everyone helps !
I can't see how it is a good use of your (and Robert's etc) time to (re)answer basic questions from new starters like me. But having got past one hurdle, I seem to find another which leads me again to question the mailing list, when I know there must be other users of PTXdist who will have had the same problems and have solved them. My own preference in O-S projects is to document stuff if no-one else has done it, but that presupposes I can make reasonable progress on my own. In the meantime, hope that my enquiries still get answered ! You may be assured that I will have tried alternatives, searched PTXdist files, scanned the newgroups and also Googled for solutions before posting here !
