Interesting. Because it works fine here on Ubuntu 9.10 i386/amd64.

So this shouldn't the problem here.

I'm going to check my compile logs for more glues and apply/test the
patch against the ptx master without any other changes - just in case
the other patches in the stack should magically fix the problem as a
side effect.
