TAX

No. 3 in the series

I have had some feedback from readers of the "VOICE " re letters to their pollies asking questions about Tax and it seems that they have suddenly become shy. I wonder why they won’t answer ? could it be they DON’T KNOW !! Or is it they don’t want to know ? One became very daring and wrote a letter to the editor of his local paper warning people not to take any notice of those people advocating questioning tax laws , they were warned that the full force of the law will come down on them if they try any of the things that I have been asking you to do .

Is it a crime to write to your local member asking for clarification of the tax laws ? Of course it isn’t , nor is it a crime to ask for proof of the validity of any law . I have not received any replies to my letters to my member as yet but if anyone has , please let me know . One reader said that he had practically hounded his member for an answer but couldn’t get any .

The more I look behind the scenes , the more I am becoming convinced that we have been conned , swindled , robbed if you like for , years . This has come about because we have trusted our politicians , something we now know is a very foolish exercise .

In each section of our tax laws there is a part set aside for definitions and amongst them are two words that need clarifying , they are MEANS and INCLUDES . For instance , it may say the Commissioner MEANS the Commissioner administrating this Act , that is telling you the definition of Commissioner . But INCLUDES is part of a definition . They may say INCOME includes income derived from various sources such as interest on money secured by mortgage , personal exertion , income from property BUT does it include anything else?

Definition of Income tax : Income tax means income tax imposed as such by any Act as assessed under this Act . Really ! When I went to school I was taught that you could not define a word with the same word . TAXPAYER means any person chargeable with income tax . OK , but how do they define the word person ? A person INCLUDES a company , if the definition of a taxpayer includes a company , what else does it include . To find this out we must bedevil our poor MP again .

Dear Sir ,

In the Australian Tax Office definitions a Taxpayer means any person chargeable with income tax , and upon looking up the definition of a person we found that a person includes a company .

We would like a list of whatever else it includes

That’s all sign it , put it in an envelope and make his day by posting it off to him or her . But please send it to your FEDERAL M P . More next Issue

WHO’S RUNNING THE COUNTRY ?

This appeared in THE RURAL WEEKLY 29th Oct. 1999 .

DAIRY DEREGULATION

A Senate inquiry into the proposed deregulation of the dairy industry has found no evidence of benefit to farmers or consumers from the shake-up.

Inquiry chair, Democrats' rural spokesman Senator John Woodley last week tabled the report.

And while the committee found that commercial pressures made deregulation inevitable, Senator Woodley said he was disappointed at the lack of political will from the major parties to confront the market forces pushing for deregulation of sensitive rural industries.

"Under deregulation farmers will lose and there is no benefit to consumers," he said. "It is basically the transfer of millions of dollars from farmers pockets to those of supermarkets' and milk processors." Senator Woodley said he hoped the new Government in Victoria would review that State's push for deregulation.

The dairy farmer’s don’t want it , the consumers don’t want it , so why are we forced to accept it ? Because Professor Hilmer ( the architect of the National Competition Policy ) and Big Business say we are going to get it . SO WHO IS RUNNING THE BLOODY COUNTRY ?

WATER

Some time ago I printed an article on what was going to happen with the rain that fell on our roofs and on our land when at a meeting in Europe last year , 87 UN nations decided that water would be classed as a commodity and would have to be paid for , in truth they laid claim to God’s gift to mankind , water . These people in their wisdom (Australia included) , said water must be paid for and as usual Australia is among the first to begin implementing this most insidious of taxes .

In NSW farmers were urged by their government to drought proof their farms by building as many dams as possible , they were even given low interest loans to assist them . This year their government showed their real colours and told the farmers they could only retain 10% of the rain that fell on their farm .

What about the new dams they had built ? Sorry , you will have to put in pipes to allow 80% of the rain that falls on your farm to flow away . At first thought it would appear that bureaucracy has gone mad , not so , because if any farmer is found with more water in his dam than he is allowed he will have to pay for it .

This whole sorry situation has come about through bureaucratic bungling . If there had been competent people in charge of allocating water for irrigation the salinity problem they are now screaming about would not be so severe , but no , blame the farmer again , it’s his fault for clearing all the trees , never a word from the bureaucrats about allocating more water than they had . They have granted irrigation licenses to cotton growers and other users of water in areas that should never have been cultivated .

I know that a lot of that country in low rainfall areas is good country , with water it will grow anything but it can now be seen that the river systems cannot remain healthy while all that water is being pumped out of them and the only solution is to reduce allocations NOW .

THE AGRICULTURAL FINANCE SURVEY

This Survey , carried out by the Australian Bureau of Statistics , has been going on for years . It compiles information on the income and expenditure of agriculturally based businesses and is supposed to assist farmer’s groups , produce associations , agricultural research associations and government agencies .

Dorothy Pratt , MP for the Queensland electorate had this to say about the survey.

It is a very sad reality in my area that farmers have been filling these forms out for many years with the assurance the information would be used to improve their lot. Quite the opposite has been the case and we have seen more and more farmers leave the land, to the point that Governments should be starting to worry. Farmers' groups are being perceived to be nothing more than springboards to a political career and many of the hierarchy in those groups are seen to support the Globalist agenda that has crippled so many once viable farms.

I have been unable to see any benefits gained by farmers due to these statistics. I also believe that a person's earnings and expenditure is private information to anyone other than a Bank from which a loan is being sought. I would therefore appreciate it if you would send me a copy of the law that will make one who refuse to co-operate in this matter a law-breaker. I would also like to see 'just cause' as to why these people must suffer such an imposition and reasons why they should not be paid for their time to fill in these forms. Concrete proof that these statistics are not being used AGAINST Australian farmers will also be appreciated.

Going on past performance , I can see no reason to encourage anyone to fill out these forms .

Nor can I. Why should anyone be compelled to divulge information of a personal nature to anyone else . They talk a lot these days about the "Invasion of Privacy" but I could just imagine the uproar if they told Kerry Packer he had to divulge the same sort of information!!

So tell ‘em to go jump.

Australia : the real picture

Employment in community care services has risen 13 per cent in five years to 152,300. Biggest increases have been in social work (50 per cent) and counselling

(41.5 per cent).

An extra 43,000 sole parents have gone on to benefits since the Howard Government came to power.

A University of Western Australia study used survey data to conclude that Australians spend $5 billion a year on marijuana, equal to spending on wine and spirits or about three-quarters of beer

expenditure.

GST SEMINARS , WHAT A JOKE

There has been seminars on the GST held around Queensland anyway , (I don’t know about the rest of Australia) by public accountants . They are a JOKE . The people holding the seminars have no idea what they are talking about , they hand out a sheaf of printed material and then proceed to READ it to the suckers , some of whom have travelled a long way to learn what it is all about only to find they have wasted a day , burnt gallons of petrol for nothing .

At the end they called for questions and when it became clear they couldn’t answer them , the people left absolutely disgusted . My advice to anyone considering going to one of these so-called seminars is to stay at home and do your usual work , you will not miss a thing and will probably be a lot less confused .

Some of these Accounting firms even had the audacity to CHARGE people who attended .

The GST legislation has passed through parliament and is now law but don’t take it as gospel , because each week they alter it , it is called fine tuning . Why the hell wasn’t the fine tuning done BEFORE it went before parliament ?

NSW New Party Rules

In NSW proposed changes to elections would require parties to be registered for at least 12 months. They would need to pay $3,500 and present a list of 1,000 members who could not be used to register another party. Candidates standing for election would have to pay $500 - or up to 21 candidates could be registered for $5,000. The Shooters Party's Mr John Tingle, who devised some of the reform proposals, said the change would be an advantage to the major parties and a disadvantage to not just the micro parties but the Greens and the Democrats.

___________

REGIONAL FOREST AGREEMENT

It would seem that the Queensland Timber Board General Manager Mr. Rod McInnes is upset about the criticism levelled at the QTB by two M.P.s Well if he reads this he will get a bit more upset.

The Stirrer has lived in the bush all his life , his father was a very highly respected Forest Ranger in the State of NSW for 26 years and if Dad could see what is happening to the timber industry he would be utterly disgusted .

Mr. McInnes might wish that this stupid agreement go through without a ripple but while ever we have a representative of the calibre of Dorothy Pratt that is not going to happen .

This Regional Forest Agreement is nothing but a load of CRAP .

There are several points that need bringing into the light of day :

(1) There is NO guarantee that the millers will have 25 years supply from the State Forests . All the next government has to do is say - sorry the greenies will only let you log for 10 years .

(2) There is no way sawlogs can be grown in 25 years .

(3) Why did minority groups like the Wilderness Society and the conservationists have to be signatories to the agreement . That radical mob of ratbags were instrumental in having Fraser Island listed on world heritage and that was criminal .

One summer there will be a fire on that island and all that will be left will be the blackened skeletons of trees , all it takes is the right day and there will be no stopping it .

And the ones to blame will be the greenies who would not have a clue about conservation , they think that by locking the loggers out will secure the forests . WRONG ,they are more at risk now than ever they were when they were under forestry control .

The problem with the island now is that most of the fire trails have not been maintained and have grown over to the extent that there are large tracts of forest that are inaccessible and as a result the build up of excess fuel is never burnt , but it will be, when the right day comes along.

Heaven help the regional communities if they are represented by the QTB and Mr. McInnes because they should have been the ones to tell the Canberra Clowns where to go right at the onset.

This is entirely a State matter and if we had parliamentary representatives of the calibre of Dorothy Pratt there would not have been a RFA.

In the past , before all our State governments bowed to the Clowns , their Forestry Departments could not be faulted in their management of our forests .

I think it would be a good idea if Mr. McInnes ceased to side with politicians with questionable motives and said a few words of praise for the politicians who think more of their constituents than the money hungry big end of town .

Keeping Track of Your Cash-

A Federal Reserve official says US currency should include tracking devices so government can tax private possession of dollar bills. According to a proposal from Marvin Goodfriend, a senior vice president at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, the longer you hold currency without depositing it in a bank account, the less that cash will be worth.

In other words, greenbacks will get automatic expiration dates.

"The magnetic strip could visibly record when a bill was last withdrawn from the banking system. A carry tax could be deducted from each bill upon deposit according to how long the bill was in circulation," wrote Goodfriend in a recent presentation to a Federal Reserve System conference in Woodstock, Vermont.

The 34-page paper argues a carry tax will discourage "hoarding" currency, deter black market and criminal activities, and ... says new technology finally makes such a scheme feasible.

Congressional critics say they would oppose any such move. Goodfriend discusses an alternative: "The Fed should at times prevent Americans from withdrawing cash from their bank accounts."

A friend in NEED is a Goodfriend indeed.

THE REFERENDUM

Early Sunday morning.

Well it’s over , thank goodness, for the time being anyway. Hopefully they will all crawl back into the woodwork from whence they came and give us poor ignorant people a bit of peace for a while.

I was a scrutineer at the main polling booth in our shire, the ONLY scrutineer I might add, it appears that the parties were not interested enough to appoint any, there were people handing out how to vote cards though and that, in my opinion, is an insult to our intelligence. One only had to answer yes or no.

There were just over 1600 votes cast in the Murgon Shire Hall and a landslide victory for the No’s on both questions, over 1300 for each. There were only 15 informal . so it would appear that the people out here are not as dumb as some think they are.

The national results indicate this trend will be carried throughout the country except where all the wowsers live, Victoria and the ACT who both voted yes.

The results of this referendum are a clear warning of the power of a controlled media, it was just as well that there were enough people that saw through the hype and voted accordingly. We cannot afford to get complacent now that we have won, this is only the first round, there will be more to come.

Australia : the real picture

An AIHW report states that, in three years, the number of Australian teenagers who have tried heroin has trebled and the proportion of teenage cannabis smokers increased from 29 per cent to 35 per cent. Some 22 per cent of adults now use an illicit drug.

In NSW, the number of female prisoners rose 71 per cent in four years compared with 12 per cent for males. There was a 12 per cent rise in 1998 in imprisonment from NSW courts and 9.3 per cent from higher courts.

JUSTICE

Now that all the hoopla is over how about a bit of cleaning up?

Lets start with the politicians who so loudly proclaimed themselves for the Republic . They broke their oath of allegiance to the Queen and are guilty of SEDITION.

They must stand down from parliament immediately while an investigation is carried out into their behaviour.

There will have to be another election if they are found guilty .

Surely we can find something to charge Malcolm Turnbull with , after all they jailed that bloke at the EUREKA STOCKADE .

                                            'That little one.

That honey coloured fellow over there.

Bright eyes. Wavy tail.

Got a friendly air.

I'll call the fellow Toby

If he comes to me right now -

I'll take him home, and we'll be mates.

Hey Toby! - Bow! Wow! Wow!!'

'You said that I could have him

And he's free. Is that the go?

There's just a few small questions

'Bout the things I have to know.

Has the feller had his shots and all?

Have you had him micro-chipped?

And has he been de-sexed? You know

It's cheaper if they're ripped.

Have you registered the mongrel?

Have you wormed the little creep?

If you haven't done those things at all

Our contract's in a heap.

He's only-eight weeks old you say?

Do you want a bit more time?

To sort out all those little things

Before young Toby's mine?

It'll take two hundred dollars

To straighten out this pup.

We'll halve it mate. Your share is

One hundred bucks all up.

He'll piddle on my carpet;,

Tear my furniture to bits,

Leave his cast off hair all over the place -

Not counting fleas and nits.

I'm not billing you for wear and tear,

I'm a very reasonable bloke.

Just give me a hundred dollars and .

My God! He's had a stroke!

Come on Toby. Let's go home.

Sanctions Kill Over 10,000 Iraqis in August

More than 10,000 Iraqi children and elderly people died last August of different curable diseases and malnutrition due to the continuation of theU.N. sanctions, statistics indicate.

The figures released on Sunday by Iraqi Health Ministry showed that 7,632 Iraqi children aged below five died of diarrhoea, pneumonia and respiratory infections and malnutrition last month, while only 302 children died in the same month in 1989.

And 2,555 elderly people died of heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and malignant neoplasms last month, compared to 480 deaths registered in August 1989.

The U.N. imposed harsh economic sanctions on Iraq in August 1990 following its invasion of Kuwait, which touched off the 1991 Gulf War.

The figures show that a total of over 1.18 million Iraqis, most of them children, have died of various curable diseases and malnutrition since the imposition of the U.N. sanctions till last August.

And they say Hitler was a bastard !!

GETTING IT STRAIGHT
________________________________

A typical macho man married a typical good-looking lady and after the wedding, laid down the following rules:

"I'll be home when I want, if I want and at what time I want and I don't expect any hassle from you. I expect a great dinner to be on the table unless I tell you otherwise. I'll go hunting, fishing, boozing, and card-playing when I want with my old buddies and don't you give me a hard time about it. Those are my rules. Any comments?"

His new bride said, "No, that's fine with me. Just understand that there'll be sex here at seven o'clock every night -- whether you're here or not."
