That's fine, but the POWER did not really care which way the vote went.
Watch events carefully, as the nation is punished for its disobedience.

Subject: Thank You

On behalf of the Queensland 'NO' Republic Campaign Coordinators and Supporters, I would like to convey their sincere 'THANK YOU' for your enormous efforts with the 'NO/NO' campaign that contributed to the decisive defeat of both Referendum questions last Saturday.

The republican media, although predicting a close result, maintained that a 'yes' vote was 'inevitable'. They were WRONG.

The only 'inevitable' component was that the republican movement and their party politician mates in Canberra would NOT accept the 'WILL of the PEOPLE' and insist on having another Referendum or Plebiscite at a possible cost of another $120,000,000 (One Hundred & Twenty million dollars).

The most underestimated factors by the republicans were the Australian People's resolve and determination in their support of OUR Constitutional Monarchy and that they would not be jeopardised by placing more power in the hands of the party politicians.

Kim Beazley speaking on behalf of the republicans, stated that it was the ordinary Australians, those at the lower end of the 'socioeconomic scale', those who earned less than $80,000 per annum, who defeated the republic Referendum.

He was right, and WE will do it again.

Respectfully Yours,

Selwyn N.L. Johnston

Queensland 'NO' Republic Campaign.
