WALES BILL OF RIGHTS INQUIRY
Eighty to
ninety submissions have been made to the NSW Parliamentary Committee for the
Bill of Rights Inquiry when the closing date was 31 March
2000.
The next series of
hearings are 18 July; 25 July; 31 July & 2 Augusr at State Parliament,
Macquarie Street, Sydney from 10 am to 12:30 pm when, respectively, the
Australian Lawyers for Human Rights; Brett Walker QC for the Bar Association;
the Law Society; and Professor Nethyme and Dr Loren Brent will be presenting
their views to the Parliamentary Standing Committee.
The Standing Committee is
made up of The Hon Ron Dyer, MLC (ALP) Chair; The Hon John Ryan MLC (Lib) Deputy
Chair; The Hon Peter Breen MLC (Reform); The Hon John Hatzistergos MLC (ALP);
and The Hon Janelle Saffin MLC (ALP).
