Could you explain this further?
Sure. Please see:

<https://groups.google.com/forum/#%21topic/persistenturls/jjkbMQLYWYU>
Noted [and see below]
Please note that this deprecation relates solely to the codebase and
has no impact on OCLC or OCLC's purl.org <http://purl.org> service.
Any decision to migrate or change purl.org <http://purl.org> is
purely OCLC's decision.
Thank you, that's an important distinction as many ontologies rely on
purl.org
Deprecated by whom?
3 Round Stones (http://3roundstones.com) currently oversees
development and maintenance of both purlz.org <http://purlz.org> and
the Callimachus Project. 3 Round Stones is moving all new PURL
development from purlz.org <http://purlz.org> to the Callimachus
Project because we have been the only ones contributing code to
purlz.org <http://purlz.org> in some years.
So no new contributions for purlz.org will be accepted?
