We can encode the range thus:

@prefix rdfs: <http://www.w3.org/2000/01/rdf-schema#> .
@prefix owl: <http://www.w3.org/2002/07/owl#> .
@prefix xsd: <http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#> .

<> rdfs:range [
        a owl:Class;
        owl:unionOf (
                xsd:dateTime 
                xsd:gYear
        )
] .

That way the range is the union of xsd:dateTime and xsd:gYear and not their 
intersection.
