Hey Y'all Sero has launched the new website (see press release below). Between us (the TLDA) it's a little something I like to call RegPress. RegPress is an extended version of wordpress to implement some front end registry functions. It's by no means ready for open source deployment, but it's one of the many projects I've worked on over the last 2 years. Also, it was nice to see the support of the TLDA when Stephane Van Gelder went off and attacked Sero Registry for no reason. We might just turn out to be a cohesive community yet. As of now, I'm planning to do a lot of press releases to get the word out about Sero TLDs and additionally the fact that ICANN is not the only internet and that a Inclusive Namespace of alternate root zones exists and is *thriving*. :)
Let me know if you guys have any feedback on the new site, Cheers, Luke Weyrauch Sero Registry [email protected] ----------------------- [ AS FEATURED ON TECHNOLOGY EXPLORER @ http://www.technologyexplorer.net/?p=27 ] * Sero Registry Goes Live With New Website* After two very long years, Sero Registry, top level domain registry operator of a number of new and attractive TLDs, has launched the new version of their website in efforts to grow support within the online communities which their TLDs represent. Sero Registry has been in operation since 2007 when owner Luke Weyrauch decided that it was time to bring about more options and competition in the domain name marketplace. “The new business owners and visionaries need low cost alternatives to the current popular top level domains like .com, .net, and .org” Weyrauch opined in an online editorial, further noting that the addition of new TLDs to the world wide web would “be a great way to revitalize the global economy, by allowing the little guy to get a chance in the game.” He might just be right. In today’s internet economy, business owners are faced with the task of dealing with domainers, who are professional (or often times not so professional) domain collectors who want to sell you a name for anywhere from $500 to tens of thousands of dollars to secure a ‘good domain name.’ Additionally, there are domain auction services, and parked page websites like Sedo that can have an entrepreneur who should be focusing on their idea getting caught up in a neverending whirlwind of technologies and services. Sero Registry’s new TLDs looks to give a lot of communities a new identity on the world wide web. And best of all, they’re going to be inexpensive. Sero says they hope to charge roughly half the price of current popular top level domains. Sero’s .Artist top level domain for example, will provide “a new marketing platform for artists, musicians, writers, actors, and other businesses in art, music, fashion, and entertainment industries.” When we contacted Sero Registry for comment, we were told that they already have thousands of ‘pre-registrations’ for all of their TLDs and that they were developing policies that would extended the maximum benefit to the communities that each TLD represents. Well one thing we can be sure of: Luke Weyrauch definitely has a lot on his plate. He was able to develop a proprietary registry software based on open source technologies a full 2 years before companies like minds and machines started emerging. A young technologist and visionary, Weyrauch is sure to keep us watching over the next year as his company is brought into the mainstream. We’ll be keeping an eye on Sero Registry for any new developments. You can follow Sero Registry on Twitter at http://twitter.com/seroregistry. [END RELEASE]
