I've filed https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=609345 after trying to link to "files/examples.zip" in a document, I followed the instructions in the FAQ. Here are the results I found.
The locally-built book behaves properly, adding a files/ directory to the tmp/en-US/html and tmp/en-US/html-single directories. As I noted on-list yesterday, the PDF version does not work properly. The problem is when I try to package the book using the "publican package" command. The built book, when installed elsewhere, does not contain the files/ subdirectory.
