I would argue that:
Let's add the port priority patch (
https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/72053/ )
and then, if a user prefers using HDMI over analog speakers, (s)he can set the
priorities accordingly in /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths
For remembering a chain of devices in order, we need a working
module-port-manager (and a "set port and profile in one go" API to go with it).
