Hi, first time poster here, thanks! I posted a question on Stack Overflow, but here I have a simpler version of the question that should be easily reproduced.

Notice the difference in the output of parec, with and without pavucontrol running. Why is this happening? What is pavucontrol doing, or what is parec not doing, or what is happening to the pulseaudio server when pavucontrol is running? I don't know much so please explain as much as you can/like. Thanks!
