Frets on Fire (http://fretsonfire.sourceforge.net/) has eye-straining
slowdowns instead of continous pace when using PulseAudio. Setting ALSA in
gstreamer-properties and killing pulseaudio processes allows playing FoF
without problems.
Don't know that much about pulseaudio to find out where the problem is ->
leaving component as default "daemon". Pulseaudio version 0.9.10-2ubuntu9,

If anyone can try this out on newer pulseaudio and tell if it's fixed or
not fixed, it'd be nice.
