#443: support for 24 bit sample formats (in 'padsp'?) ----------------------------------------------+----------------------------- Reporter: jpka | Owner: lennart Type: defect | Status: new Priority: normal | Milestone: Component: daemon | Severity: normal Keywords: 24 32 bit recording ubuntu linux | ----------------------------------------------+----------------------------- Hi! I read ticket#355, but my problem inside is completely different, while have same target - support 24-bit operation. My goal is to make recording in Ubuntu/Linux in 24-bit formats via LAN. I search in entire world for any recording software for Ubuntu which has native support for Pulseaudio. I found nothing except built-in sound recorder, but it limited internally to 16 bit. Q1: Maybe you know maybe this stuff really exist? Next I see one way - using 'padsp' as PA<->OSS converter. Q2: There is no PA<->ALSA converter exists? or i'm wrong? But while using 'padsp' there is a problem: a) 'padsp mhwaveedit': When I select 24 or 32 bit for recording, I get 'This format is not supported by the input driver!' error. Recording using 8/16 bit works fine. b) 'padsp audacity': no errors, but recorded file is really only 16-bit resolution. Q3: Can you help please? Or tell me where I wrong. Thanks! N.B. My soundcard loads on pulseaudio server without errors, with s32le or float32le formats, unlike as in ticket #355. So I think the problem may be in 'padsp'.
