Issue #2068 has been updated by harisekhon.

I think we could do with a minimum version setting but >=1.0 does not work yet, 
it comes out as emerge =packagename->=1.0 so it obviously isn't checking for 
invalid chars...

causes Gentoo systems to try to emerge =something-1.0 instead of just ensure 
that the version is at least 1.0, so if you have 1.5 installed, you go back 
down to 1.0.

This is bad and can completely destabilize your system or cause other problem.
