Issue #2426 has been updated by Nigel Kersten.

I think so yes, primarily because to use the 'apple' provider, you need to have 
delivered the package to the local filesystem in some other way, and for a 
bundle pkg, you're going to need to compress it to a single flat file.

The pkgdmg provider does all this for you.

I can see what others on the list think, but the pkgdmg provider is the one 
that is closest to the other platform package providers.

This needs a design decision, but I'm pretty sure we're not the only people who 
consider the pkgdmg provider to be the default for our platform.

I'll do the patches once a decision is reached.
