Or if you'd like us to fix it downstream then you'll have to tell us how we 
might get this value into Facter? Where is this serial number set? How do you 
retrieve?

The serialnumber from SuperMicro processors all come back as the same number 
across all machines.

facterversion => 1.5.6
rubyversion => 1.8.7
manufacturer => Supermicro
serialnumber => 1234567890
productname => X6DVL-EG2

I find the same serialnumber issue in dmidecode.
