To see how much execution time is affected I setup a simple test harness;

In a VM (2012R2 4GB RAM, 2 vCPU)
Modules installed in C:\ProgramData\PuppetLabs\code\environments\production\modules

iis
powershell
reboot
stdlib

Calls to Get-FileAttributesW ~6800, of which ~6500 "fail"

POWERSHELL
