Issue #7934 has been updated by Randall Hansen.
As I understand it, we have these two choices:
### Show "Contents" link for every file ###
* BUT some of them (nearly all for the most recent version of the content) will
lead to a "Content doesn't exist" message
* the costs are:
* the user is frustrated by lack of content
* we look silly because we cannot provide content
### Show "Contents" links only when we know content exists ###
* BUT in some cases we will not show a link where content does exist
* the costs are:
* content potentially valuable to the user is hidden
I much prefer the second case. I'd rather disappoint people than hide content
from them. Ideally we'd do this with a useful error message, and a link to the
ticket in Redmine that will resolve this problem completely.
I'm not going to make this decision, because I'd like to convince Nigel.

Bug #7934: Dashboard shouldn't link to the current file in the filebucket, as
it won't be available.

Author: Peter Meier
Status: In Topic Branch Pending Merge
Priority: High

Target version: 1.x

Branch:
https://github.com/jhelwig/puppet-dashboard/tree/ticket/1.2rc/7934-hide-file-bucket-link-for-new-files
Affected URL:
Affected Dashboard version:
Within the report for each file-content-md5sum dashboard is showing a link to
retrieve the content from the filebucket. However, as puppet is (imho) only
uploading the old (changed) file to the filebucket, you are never able to view
the latest (currently active) file.
You also get a ups something went wrong screen on that link, which is not that
nice
