Issue #13172 has been updated by Mark Phillips.
Hey folks, So you're proud to announce the wide scale OS support in Puppet with the 2.5 Enterprise release, but at the same time what's being proposed here is, essentially, pulling Solaris support from the product. I know the world is going Linux, but you're going to shoot yourselves in the foot with the largest Enterprise customers out there. I can absolutely guarantee you every large enterprise (5,000+ servers) will have an extensive Solaris estate - whether they still want it or not. If you want to have an in depth conversation on this subject I would like to propose a call (voice so much easier than typing) with at least Dominic Cleal and myself and we can help you out with this. Skype would be fine - folks with Puppetlabs have my contact details, including Luke, Nigel, Nan and Ken Barber. Cheers ---------------------------------------- Refactor #13172: Extract Solaris Zone and related providers into modules on the forge https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/13172#change-58756 Author: Daniel Pittman Status: Accepted Priority: Normal Assignee: Jeff Weiss Category: modules Target version: Telly Affected Puppet version: Keywords: solaris module Branch: We have a pile of Solaris types in core. They should be extracted and pushed to the forge as independent projects where we can innovate faster and fix bugs in a more responsive fashion, during Telly. -- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
