In <https://github.com/puppetlabs/puppet/pull/1447> ---------------------------------------- Feature #19058: Deprecate the method syntax for variables in ERB templates https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/19058#change-82555 Author: Andrew Parker Status: In Topic Branch Pending Review Priority: Normal Assignee: Category: Target version: Affected Puppet version: Keywords: deprecation template Branch: https://github.com/puppetlabs/puppet/pull/1447 At the moment ERB templates have 2 ways of accessing variables in the current scope. One is to use the ruby instance variable syntax (`@variable`) the other is to use the local var/method call syntax (`variable`). The second syntax has many problems and can be dangerous to use in certain circumstances. We need to deprecate the method call syntax and remove it in a later version. In addition the style guide and template docs need to be updated to make clear that the instance variable syntax is preferred. -- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
