Issue #20402 has been reported by Vincent Gallissot. ---------------------------------------- Feature #20402: Documentation of DashBoard and PuppetDB isn't clear https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/20402
* Author: Vincent Gallissot * Status: Unreviewed * Priority: Normal * Assignee: * Category: documentation * Target version: 3.x * Affected Puppet version: * Keywords: documentation doc puppetdb dashboard * Branch: ---------------------------------------- The actual documentation is not really clear on the difference and the aim of those tools. For example, the Dashboard seems to have a local database (MySQL) in 1.2 but on PuppetDB's documentation, it says that for Puppet > 2.7, we must use PuppetDB with the DashBoard. PuppetDB can also be a PostgreSQL, so to have PuppetDB and Dashboard on the same node do I need to install and configure PostgreSQL + MySQL or what ? The aim of each tool is not clear to me and by now, I don't know what architecture I have to create to have PuppetDB and Dashboard in my network and then, on the same node. Are those two made to work together or PuppetDB is just made for inventory, but the Dashboard uses the inventory, does the Dashboard really need it's own database, are those tools completely independent, can they be installed on the same node, can they be installed on the puppetca, etc. ? -- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
