I think you have multiple versions of puppet installed, perhaps as a package
and as a gem?

----------------------------------------
Bug #22852: puppet help only show error message
https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/22852#change-98784

* Author: Reinhard Vicinus
* Status: Needs More Information
* Priority: Normal
* Assignee: Reinhard Vicinus
* Category:
* Target version:
* Affected Puppet version: 3.3.1
* Keywords:
* Branch:
----------------------------------------
All puppet agents i have updated from 3.3.0 to 3.3.1 show on "puppet help" only
the following error message:

Error: "--name=": already defined in puppet
Error: Try 'puppet help help help' for usage

The same error is shown with all "puppet man xyz" commands, but "puppet help
xyz" seems to work with all commands.
