If you run this: class f { $value = 3 notice inline_epp('<%-( $x )-%> Value is <%= $value %>', { x => $value }) } include f Without --strict_variables, you get: Notice: Scope(Class[F]): Value is And if you run it with --strict_variables, you get: Error: Evaluation Error: Unknown variable: 'value'. at line 1:27 on node henriks-macbook-pro.local So, it works as intended.
