It's been quite frustrating at times.

Basically it depends on how happy you are with setting people up with
gitosis accounts at a server hosted at reductive.

For you, Andrew, Teyo and James it probably makes a lot of sense. You
might also want to give accounts out to proven contributors (kinda
like kernel.org does).

However for casual contributors, they should be able to host wherever
for patches, as the git tree is a convenience over patches to list.

The key people it needs to be fast for are those integrating trees/branches.
