I also tried the Engine Yard folks but I got too distracted with other work. My gut tells me they know and it's worth waiting a couple of days to let them sort it out.
For what it's worth, I'm not seeing quite the same performance issues. My work flow is a little different though as I usually on check out and branch locally with out trying to commit back to github.
