Another thing to drop if you want to shorten subjects would be the -n
option to git format-patch. By default, n/m is added when there are
multiple patches. Using -n forces git to add n/m even for single
patches.
(Not many folks here use git am, but git would strip all of the
bracketed sections in the example above.)
