Hi-

I'm trying to get the LiveHD dual-boot (along w/ Windows XP) set up on my
computer. However, I'm running into some problems with instructions listed
on the P:D wiki. I'd like to forewarn everybody that I am pretty new to
Linux in general so I hope I don't seem too incompetant.

As mentioned in the directions, I first copied the "live" folder to the root
of my c:\ drive - which is the same drive that my Windows installation is
on. This is the only HD I have on this system and the only formatted
partition.

So I boot from the LiveCD as instructed, login, and then open a terminal. I
login into root using "sudo su." So far so good...The next instruction is to
make a boot directory undor /media/hda1 . When I typed in "mkdir
/media/hda1/boot" I actually got an error message saying that the folder
didn't exist. No big deal, I first make the "hda1" folder inside "media" and
then make the "boot" folder inside "hda1".

Next is where I get problems. When I try to install the GRUB booter by
typing "grub-install --root-directory=.....etc" I get an error message
saying that command grub-install is missing.

I've looked over the directions several times and am pretty sure that I'm
doing correctly....but like I said, I don't really know Linux so am not sure
what it is that I am actually doing.

I guess as a follow-up question, I'd like to know if doing this live HD
install is an effective way to have a dual-boot with XP. Would it be better
to wipe my HD, create 2 partitions, install XP and Debian, and then install
the P:D tools?

Of course, I'll be totally in the dark doing that as well...

Thanks in advance for your responses, I really appreciate any help you all
might be able to provide me with!
