I thought we had it installed already... https://code.goto10.org/projects/puredyne/changeset/177/live/config/chroot_local-packageslists/wm Can you confirm that you don't have a GUI for configuring the keyboard in the XFCE control panel? More about localisations: There will be some boot options eventually so one can choose at boot time keyboard and system languages, it's planned, just going to take some time. In the meanwhile, if anyone wants to change the default settings (if you have persistence working) you can: sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales > Video Capturing (Firewire DV in) > > is it possible to get it working "out of the box"? > I've found kino able to capture after typing at the terminal: > > sudo chown root:video /dev/raw1394 > > is this the right thing to do? > is it a security hazard? > can it be there by default? ah yes, good point, had the same problem I'm making a ticket https://code.goto10.org/projects/puredyne/ticket/674 > Network managing > > nm-applet is supposedly user friendly. may be in theory but not in my > experience. > In practice the connection experience (at least using WPA2) is long > and painful if not unsuccessful. > Right now seems to be stable but i got 3 signal level tray icons (or > whichever way you call those on xfce) > Initially i was forced to enter the same password and type of > encryption again and again (they were never saved). > why don't you change of applet or use the command line then? i tried! listen: > wicd may not be so apple-user-friendly but works better, so i had a go at it. > Dependencies trouble with no downgrading or forcing options offered by > aptitude. > For sure it is nice to have the latest python, but how many other > programs cant be installed because of that? please explain me if I'm > far from the truth. I have zero experience in WPA and yes I use command line for getting on a network, so I'm not personaly bothered by non-working GUI stuff ;P We chose nm-applet because the overall system is quite userfriendly, and should allow seamless connectivity when moving around, connecting, disconnecting etc... I'm a bit surprised the password was not saved though... If you have time, we would need more testing from you (or anyone else) to see if nm-applet is good enough in most cases or if we need to find something else. (only tried here with a couple of hotspots, wep'ed and opened, it was working very well, even in combination with ethernet, etc) > Fonts Missing > > I share with many the wish of the flash tyranny to end. > I'm not sure how this works but i guess is not only related to the > pathetic non-free flash plugin. > to reproduce the missing fonts problem: > > close any instances of firefox/iceweasel (this or be sure it starts > after the flash install) > > At the console: > > sudo aptitude update > sudo aptitude install flashplugin-nonfree > > iceweasel deezer.com > > you will see something is missing. You can also directly make tickets for things you would like us to fix/improve, etc... We might redirect the ticket traffic to this list in the future so it will be easier to keep track of things. a. > Ale > > --- > [email protected] > irc.goto10.org #pure:dyne > --- [email protected] irc.goto10.org #pure:dyne
