you can make a shortcut icon in the xfce menubar by right-clicking on it and adding a new launcher. the command that it should execute should either be emacs -sclang for the emacs mode (which is my personal recommendation) or scvim for the vim supercollider mode (which I personally know very little about) or finally gedit for the sc-gedit mode. this is the recommended mode for beginners as the editor is much more like other wysiwyg editors from other OS's. in the long run emacs is definitely the way to go though in my opinion, as its editing features are very rich and relatively easily extensible. best, karsten
