sorry my mistake, my wifi card is actually eth0 so this is actually ok
(difficult to concentrate with a baby next to me demanding attention
every other minute ;). But aptitude continues to have problems with the
repositories. any help on that is welcome

my laptop continues to have problems with the repositories. I fixed this
on my desktop by removing the unstable references in the sources.list
and doing aptitude update but this does not work on my laptop.
i try to install nm-applet or kwifimanager and aptitude wants to remove
half my system. Also i noticed that i cannot configure manually my wifi
connection. iwconfig says "eth1 no wireless extensions"
any suggestions? i am considering reinstalling the system from scratch...
