It's very likely that we're gonna have some IRC meeting about that in the coming 2 months to prepare a bit for the next round of work. Would you like to join the chat then and see with us what would be the most sensible thing to do next? I personally think we should give a try to this backport thing, while pushing the latest packages to Debian right away (so that people who want to have a full testing/unstable mix, will also get the goodies via Debian, and those who need a stable system will also get the most important updates via us). But that means we would need some extra help on the backporting part of the project.
