hi again

I am trying to use my logitech "quickcam communicate STX" with GEM, when i connect the camera dmesg says

[39331.732020] usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 3
[39331.933007] usb 2-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
[39332.007667] usb 2-2: New USB device found, idVendor=046d, idProduct=08d7
[39332.007681] usb 2-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=0, SerialNumber=0

then i go to PD and try to run the GEM/04.video/basic/00.SimpleVideo.pd
when i open the GEM window PD says
error: failed opening device: '/dev/video0'

lsusb says
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 046d:08d7 Logitech, Inc. QuickCam Communicate STX

but /dev/video0 device does not exist, there is however some
/dev/sbdev2.5_ep00 /dev/sbdev2.5_ep81 and /dev/sbdev2.5_ep82 added when i plug the cam in

i tried with sudo in case it was a permission problem and root was allowed to use it but i get the same error. I am wondering if I need to manually load some module that deals with USB video devices or maybe teak the permissions?. I thought this camera was supported by the kernel (Version 2.6.27) but maybe not the puredyne kernel? my camera is actually listed here

Before I used Ubuntu Studio ad the camera worked fine there, I think it also worked with 64 Studio (cannot be sure about this now, it was some time ago).

thanks again...
