Hi,

in advance I ask for lenience if these questions have been discussed before. The access to archived messages b monthly files is a bit troublesome...

I want to format a 16GB USB stick and use it to boot my Sony Vaio laptop. I believe I follow the instructions to make a liveUSB installation on the pure:dyne site by the letter. I'm running Fedora10 to do the preparation of the USB device with these problems:

(1) the suggested installation / update of some utilities using a 'sudo aptitude update' command fails with the message 'command not found' (2) the suggested GUI method fails - the command 'sudo gparted' generates a 'command not found' error (3) the command line method fails because at the end after the 'w' command I get the message

Calling ioctl() to re-read partition table

WARNING: Re-reading the partition table failed with error 22: Invalid argument.

Until that point the command line approach rendered the results documented on the site...

Are the first 2 commands 'debian only'? If they are and there are Fedora equivalents I'd be glad to know...

Best regards
Jurgen
