I agree. I think that it is quite likely that there are many small groups
and individual DIY artists that could be interested in Pure:dyne and related
FLOSS stuff, if they aren't already. However, I haven't met many people
working with those tools. Most of the people I've met are using pirated or
purchased software, or they are working primarily with electronics and not
much computer stuff.

I'm going ahead with a sort of Intro to FLOSS+Art workshop here in about 2
weeks if I can get myself together. I just read Aymeric's intro to the
FLOSS+Art book goto10 has put out, it hit on all the points I've been slowly
piecing together in my own mind. Should have read it sooner ;) ... great
book so far by the way. I'm going to make the preface the reading for my
first 'class'. I'm going to try and document whatever I do and maybe work
with my volunteer students to help identify and find solutions to problems
encountered during the initial stages of FLOSS exploration. I want to do a
combination of demonstration, hands on activities, and sort of philosophical
and historical discussion about art and software. I'm focusing primarily on
digital audio, since that is where I come from, but ideally this should
appeal to anyone with an interest in the creative capacity of FLOSS.

If anyone has any tips or suggestions, I'd appreciate it. This is going to
be an informal workshop, my 'students' are all friends I'm asking that will
be just as much of the process of education as I as the 'teacher' will be.
 An experiment in open education.
