I think what I saw yesterday was that after I had run some benchmarks on pvfs2-IB, the pvfs2-client-core was showing 100% cpu activity for a couple of hours after that. Things are fine today.

Im running pvfs2-1.5.1.

The pvfs2-IB cluster is up finally and there is some speedup as compared to a pvfs2-TCP setup on a different cluster. But Im seeing one strange thing on the IB setup: the pvfs2-client-core is using up 100% CPU even in the absence of file-system activity. I saw on pvfs2 FAQs one entry related to pvfs2-server CPU usage, but none related to pvfs2-client-core. Have other people run into a similar problem? Note that on the pvfs2-TCP cluster, which is similarly configured except for not having Infiniband, pvfs2-client-core is quite well behaved.

Haven't seen the client-core consuming 100% cpu yet. I'm running
your setup here and it's idle except during transfers. Can you
verify that the client-core chews a full CPU as soon as it is
started up? Or if you have to do use the file system for a while
before it goes into this mode? I'm trying to understand what could
be causing it.

Actually I'm just finding a bug in the pvfs2-IB polling method now
that may add _server_ load, not sure about client; I'll let you know
when I've got it figured out. Please tell me again which version of
PVFS2 you're running? CVS Head or one of the releases?
