Hi Nikhil,

If you are running PVFS and a server goes down, you lose *access* to the metadata and data on that file server. Sometimes there are pieces of the file system that are still available, depending on what server died and what metadata it controlled.

Assuming the disks are ok, restarting the server will return availability.

The cluster as a whole should not be otherwise impacted by a server failure.

Hi,

If I have configured 4 I/O servers and if 1 of them goes down, then
will I lose all my data?
will the cluster fail?

Thanks,
Nikhil
