Hi,
I sent this to the Rocks mailing list, but nobody there was able to give
me an answer. Do you know if this could solve these problems? Current
BDB version is db4-4.3.29-10.el5_5.2. I was hoping to upgrade, perhaps
to 4.8.30. Any comments? Should I then recompile PVFS?
Cheers,

Subject: Bad File Entries in PVFS2... is it safe to upgrade Berkeley DB
in Rocks 5.4?

Hi,
after intensive use of the PVFS2 system in our cluster, we have many
files like:
[callende@diodo hyd0022.bug]$ ls -lt dir1258/
total 0
?--------- ? ? ? ? ? log2
[callende@diodo hyd0022.bug]$
These files are really stubborn and there doesn't seem to be any easy
way of removing them, since apparently they don't actually exist. This
is not a new problem with PVFS2 (see
http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg02878.html),
and so far the only suggestion that I've seen to improve the situation
is to upgrade Berkeley DB
(http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg02920.html).
Can I upgrade Berkeley DB without breaking anything else in the cluster.
Will I have to recompile PVFS2? Has anyone tried this before?
Cheers,
Ángel de Vicente
