You are right, I tried to mount the client, and not the local file system on the server. Just fyi, my ssd storage might not be trimming deleted files underneath, because of which the I/O bandwidth dropped. Hence, we are trying to mount it with the discard option set.

Hi Kshitij,

When you say you are running 'mount -o discard' is that against the local file system that mounts the SSD block device on the servers or the pvfs2 mount on the client? Based on your mention of SSD I believe you'll want to mount the local file system on the server with those options.

From the client mount perspective we don't support the discard option. If this is what you're interested in could you explain the use case or what the expected behavior of that functionality would be?

I have setup pvfs2 over ssd storage, and saw that
'mount -o discard ..' fails with the following error: 'mount:
wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock ..'

Does that mean pvfs2 does not support the discard option?

    1. In case 'discard' is supported, how do I enable it? 2. Has
anyone setup pvfs2 over ssd and run trim or fstrim over it
successfully? Running 'fstrim' gives me an 'Inappropriate ioctl
    for device' error.

    Thanks,
